What is Lentisque Essential Oil?

The Mastic Lentisque Pistachio, also known as the Mastic Tree, grows in the Mediterranean region. Historically, for over 300 years, its young leaves, seeds, bark, and mastic were used to prepare medicinal decoctions. The resin was renowned for its benefits in alleviating colds and upset stomachs, while its gum was chewed to freshen breath.

Today, Lentisque essential oil is mainly used for conditions such as bronchitis, sinusitis, eczema, and venous circulation problems. Its leaves are also prepared in herbal teas to combat digestive disorders. Lentisque essential oil is obtained through the distillation of the tree's leaves and twigs. It is mostly produced in the Mediterranean basin and is known for its intense, fresh, vegetal aroma.
